WE DON’T TEACH ENGLISH, WE TEACH PEOPLE
EFL teachers, especially those who teach young learners, know instinctively that they are expected to teach not just English but also values. However, one must recognise the controversial nature of the subject of moral education and the sensitivities it may engender, especially among parents and educators who could perceive moral education as a form of indoctrination. In this session, I will propose some guiding principles for incorporating values education in our classes, explore ways in which values can be taught in the English class from an early age, and show some sample activities and resources at different levels.
